Lyle’s AOPs
Lyle has become known in the DAP community for his object-based AOPs and original paintings. This leprechaun painting made of bottle caps is a typical example of his style which has its roots in the early days of DAP. DAP’s predecessor was the Arcimbolder which made paintings using fruits, nuts and vegetables as brush strokes. This again was inspired by the Italian painter Giuseppe Arcimboldo (1527-1593), best known for creating imaginative portrait heads made entirely of such objects as fruits, vegetables, flowers, fish, and books – that is, he painted representations of these objects on the canvas arranged in such a way that the whole collection of objects formed a recognizable likeness of the portrait subject. DAP’s Vegetables AOP reminds us of this origin.
