With no particular painter in mind, I developed this template with a single, colorful palette which works well on landscapes, flowers and some portraits. It can be used for ”set it and forget it” paintings or it can be more finely controlled with the required portrait mask.
Default/recommended settings are 50%/50% Expressive / Realistic, 100% Wet, 50%/50% Faithful / Impress, 100% Real. Experiment with the Wet / Dry setting for a different look.
The template requires you to paint a Portrait Smudge Mask first. Use it to define areas of detail in your photo which you want to be more realistic. For detailed landscapes, you may want to try “All Portrait”. Vary the strength and smoothness of the mask brush to show more or less detail. The default setting of this AOP allows overpainting of the mask. You can alter this by checking the box to “Protect During Detail Paint”. The dry reveal brush kicks in at 2500 strokes and runs for 220 strokes. You can alter this as well when painting the mask by moving the “Dry Reveal” slider right for more detail.
There is only one palette but it contains a good mix of colors. For some variation, select Impression / Impression+ and choose “original colors” or some other scheme. “Paper” canvas is used by default; try “oil” canvas for interesting variations.
